ADHD & Executive Functioning

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is marked by difficulties with executive functioning, which refers to a set of cognitive skills that help us to organize, plan, manage our time, control our impulses, solve problems, and monitor our progress.

For adolescents (12+), college students, and young adults with ADHD, I offer individual therapy to build executive functioning skills. In therapy, I will work with you to identify your strengths, values, and sources of motivation to help you reach your goals. I draw on strategies from organizational skills training, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness.

For pre-adolescents and children under the age of 12 who have ADHD, I provide parenting therapy. Parenting therapy helps parents learn how to support children to develop self-regulation skills through making changes in the home and school environments. For example, we will discuss how to set consistent household rules, develop routines, and reinforce positive behaviors. For children having behavioral difficulties in school, I can provide recommendations and support for interventions in the classroom setting, such as a daily behavior report card.
